## Sahara

The Sahara is an ideal place for those who want to go to the desert for the first time. It covers the territory of ten African states. The easiest way to see the Sahara is in Morocco, Egypt or Tunisia. You can be attracted by the dunes near the Moroccan town of Mhamid, where you can pay for a longer trip to the desert, both of offroads and quad bikes, and classically with camels.

## Jordan: Wadi Rum

The most interesting place for you will be the Jordanian desert Wadi Rum (moon valley). You can get here from Amman by taxi after a three and a half hour drive. Lovers of nature and rock climbing come here. There are a number of sports and traditional routes.

## Oman: Wahiba

Oman is a great attraction for visitors to the desert. You can explore the desert in jeeps and quad bikes, camels and on foot. The photographers' paradise is the starry night sky. Desert camps are a luxury affair and are not cheap at all, on the other hand, even the most demanding users will be satisfied with them, for whom the idea of a small tent in the middle of the desert is inaccessible.

## Chile: Atacama

The driest desert in the world is the South American Atacama. It is part of the Dakar Rally, which has just moved here from Africa. The Atacama stretches around the Pacific, occupying much of Chile and the Cordillera, and rises to 5,000 meters above sea level. Here you can visit the ghost town of Santa Laura and feel like a movie cowgirl. Fully equipped houses, factories and abandoned trains are gradually clogged with sand. You can rent a car in the town of Iqueque and visit, for example, the town of San Pedro Atacama.

## China: Taklamakan

The Taklamakan Desert in China covers 327,000 km2 and is only for true adventurers. Many travelers are certainly discouraged by the name itself, which was probably derived from the Uighur language, and the meaning is: "You can get in, but you can't get out." Although Taklamakan is the warmest and driest desert in China, snow covered in 2008 when temperatures reached minus 32 degrees Celsius. The sand dunes here reach a height of about three hundred meters, so they are among the highest in the world.

## Africa: Namib

Probably the oldest desert is the African Namib, which will enchant you with endless shades of sand in yellow, red and purple. You may have read about the beauties of the local dunes or seen them in the photos, but thanks to the winds blowing from the sea, they are constantly changing and creating various forms, so a completely original view awaits you when you visit them. Although it is one of the driest places on the planet and drought has lasted for at least eighty million years, you will come across large numbers of insects, reptiles and even mammals.
