## We honour the values of our ancestors

The Border Chateau is a classical building built by the Liechtenstein family between 1816 and 1827, commissioned by John I. Joseph of Liechtenstein on the banks of the Hlohovec pond for the purpose of relaxation and rest. It served as a summer residence of the noble family. This meaningful project is a challenge and a commitment for us and we continue this story with the utmost respect and humility. Our aim is to preserve the monument in its charming beauty for future generations, so that it becomes a popular and sought-after jewel of South Moravia.

## Why Hraniční?

At the time of the construction of the chateau, the land belonged to Moravia, but during the construction process, the land border between the Margrave of Moravia and the Archduke of Lower Austria divided it into the centre of the building. This important division of the territory is still reminded by the inscription on the façade "Zwischen Österreich und Mähren" and is a testimony to the fact that until 1920 the territorial boundary ran along a different line than we are used to today. The shift of the border was also symbolised by the border stream Včelínek, which was originally part of the park's decoration. It flowed out of the vase of the statue of Hygie placed in the middle of the fountain with a pond, flowed through the courtyard of the chateau and flowed into the Hlohovec pond.

The luxurious sauna world offers perfect relaxation in three themed saunas followed by cooling down in the pool or snow cave. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the modern fitness centre and the cryosauna with freezing refreshment down to -150 °C. Perfect relaxation is provided by a superior hot tub and three relaxation zones overlooking the chateau building.

## À la carte restaurant

The hotel's à la carte [Restaurant Chateau Petit](https://www.chateaudefrontiere.com/petit.php?utm_source=flymeto.com&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=chateau), under the direction of Chef David Viktorin, provides a gastronomic experience and offers a wide selection from the extensive wine list. The stylish establishment pampers hotel guests from breakfast to evening seating on the summer terrace, has two bowling lanes and also provides facilities for visitors to the outdoor pool or the first floor conference room.

## Behind the house

The outdoor seating area Behind the House is located in a small private park behind [Chateau Petit](https://www.chateaudefrontiere.com/petit.php?utm_source=flymeto.com&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=chateau) and is dominated by a massive Chef's table for 12 people. The concept is based on an exclusive range of dishes served from the in-house smokehouse, open fire and bread oven.

## Fine dining gastronomy

[ESSENS Restaurant](https://www.restaurantessens.com?utm_source=flymeto.com&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=chateau) is located in the historic building of the Border Chateau and is completely out of the ordinary. Under the direction of chef Otto Vašák, guests are treated to extraordinary gastronomic experiences and thanks to these almost artistic creations, even the most sluggish taste buds are awakened. Inspired by Michelin-starred restaurants, the eight-course or shortened four-course tasting menus are offered here too, using only local and local ingredients. When paired with wine pairings, dinner becomes an incredible indulgence.

## Bistro Les Vélos

This popular bistro on one of the most famous cycle paths in the Czech Republic meets all the parameters for quality refreshments, great refreshments and perfect relaxation. In season, it becomes a popular destination for cyclists discovering the beauty of South Moravia.

## We rely on local suppliers

Both restaurants build their art on seasonal offerings, so there is a regular reward of menus and variations of individual courses. We pride ourselves on working with local growers, breeders and farmers, with the freshness of the ingredients and the way they are processed a priority and a prerequisite for a perfect result. Herbs and other ingredients grown in our own garden or gathered from the surrounding countryside are then processed by hand; our own production includes, for example, homemade pastries and exclusive cold cuts.
