## Weather and beaches

## Nature

Mauritius has around a dozen nature reserves and botanical gardens worth visiting. In addition, it offers beautiful mountain views, waterfalls and tropical forests. The Botanical Garden of Pamplemousses has 500 plant species, including giant water lilies and over 80 species of palm trees. In some areas you will find endemic species such as pink pigeons and giant tortoises. The UNESCO World Heritage Site features Le Morne and its impressive Maconde Mountain, right in the ocean.

## Colored sand

The small village of Charamel is a traditional tourist destination when visiting Mauritius. The uniqueness of this place lies in the colored layers of sand that can only be seen here. The color of the sand is in shades of red, green, yellow and purple. If colored sand catches you so much that you want to take it home, you can buy colored sand in seven test tubes as a souvenir.

## Adventure

Adrenaline lovers will certainly not be bored in Mauritius. Adrenaline will pick you up a trip to the Domaine de l'Etoile nature reserve on quads, buggies or unconventionally on horseback. You will find great food in restaurants as well as in snacks on the street. However, you must try seafood, preferably swordfish, octopus or freshwater lobster. Of course, it is also worth to taste tropical fruits.

## Markets

A holiday on this island without visiting local markets would be a sin. Great-tuned sellers of fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood and spices await you, as well as smart craftsmen selling their products. You will get the right atmosphere and way of life of locals in these unique markets.

## Golf

Golf was operated on the island as early as 1 902, when the first golf club was opened and is currently one of the most popular sports ever. Due to the great weather and beautiful courses, Mauritius is a popular golf destination.
